DR. LAMBERT NAMED CHAIR; DR. MISDRAJI AND DR. SWITZER JOIN ACPMP MEDICAL ADVISORY BOARD

Addition of pathologist and medical oncologist expand breadth of expertise

The Appendix Cancer / Pseudomyxoma Peritonei Research Foundation (ACPMP) is delighted to announce that Laura Lambert, MD, FACS has been appointed Chair of the ACPMP Medical Advisory Board.  ACPMP is also pleased to welcome Joseph Misdraji, MD and Bradley Switzer, MD as members of the ACPMP Medical Advisory Board.

Dr. Lambert has been a member of the ACPMP Medical Advisory Board since its inception and has been a tireless champion of both the organization and our patients over the past ten years.  We are thrilled that she has agreed to take on this leadership role and look forward to continuing our joint efforts to improve the lives of appendix cancer and PMP patients worldwide.

Dr. Misdraji is the Director of the Gastrointestinal Pathology Unit in the Department of Pathology at Massachusetts General Hospital. His primary clinical interests are gastrointestinal and hepatic diseases and cytopathology. Dr. Misdraji's research interests are focused on liver pathology, gastrointestinal diseases, and appendiceal neoplasia.  Dr. Misdraji has published over 50 research papers and his research interests include appendiceal neoplasms, hepatic diseases and gastrointestinal diseases.

Dr. Switzer is the Chief of Hematology/Oncology at Reliant Medical Group in Worcester, MA and an Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Switzer’s primary expertise is in treating cancer of the bowel, appendix, liver and other internal organs.  Dr. Switzer is the primary investigator on a phase I clinical trial looking at the role of intraperitoneal oxaliplatin given in combination with intravenous FOLFIRI for appendiceal cancer patients who are not surgical candidates.
