Gormley Family Knocking Out Appendix Cancer at Mummers Parade 2020

ACPMP Board Members Judy Culbertson and Jim Carroll will be joining Judy’s Family (the Gormley’s) for the 120th Annual Mummers Parade Comic Brigade March Up Broad Street on New Year’s Day 2020. “Theme Rocky IV Ever” will be featuring four generations of Gormley’s as “Rocky” Knocking Out Appendix Cancer.

Twenty years ago, the extended family of Mr. Joe Gormley welcomed in the new year with a joyous celebration and marched as one in the 2000 Philadelphia Mummers Parade.  They had done this parade numerous times in the past. The gregarious gathering of Gormley’s has grown considerably in the past two decades – now four generations strong – and they will strut their best Mummery stuff again to ring in 2020 right alongside their proud patriarch.

However, they will do so with a somewhat somber heart as they collectively reflect on the absence of Frank “Dutch” Culbertson, a member by marriage of the Gormley Gang that marched on that New Year’s Day in 2000.

Dutch’s family and friends have kept his memory alive and strengthened his legacy of caring for others by raising funds and awareness for Appendix Cancer – Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP) – a lesser known disease that took Dutch’s life 14 years ago.

The parade theme for the merrymaking Gormley’s channels the fighting spirit of the mythical Philadelphia boxing legend, Rocky Balboa. We hope you will support us as we deliver the Knock Out Punch for a Cure. Please share this event to spread awareness about Appendix Cancer. Join the Fight! Make a Donation!

If you would like your Rocky picture in “Honor of” a friend or loved one currently fighting the disease or “In Memory” of someone who has passed away, please email Jimc@acpmp.org a “good” face picture and who you are dedicating your support for. Maybe even a “Shout Out” to your Favorite Doctor or Specialist! We will share all Rocky’s here and on our social media channels.
