Giving Tuesday 2024: A Day of Global Generosity

Giving Tuesday, celebrated annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, is a global day of giving fueled by the power of collaboration and community. It’s a day when people come together to support causes close to their hearts and make a tangible impact. This year, the Appendix Cancer PMP Research Foundation joined the movement once again, and thanks to your generosity, we achieved incredible results!

Your Impact in Numbers

We’re thrilled to share the results of our 2024 Giving Tuesday campaign:

  • $18,149 raised from your donations by the end of the day
  • $10,000 matched by the Living4Lindsey Foundation, bringing the total to an incredible $28,149!

This outstanding support will go directly toward funding critical appendix cancer research, providing education, raising awareness, and supporting patients and their families.

Celebrating Creativity with Shades of Amber

Our Shades of Amber: Creative Contest for a Cure was a beautiful new addition to Giving Tuesday.

  • Artists: 15 participants submitted an impressive 23 pieces of art.
  • Voters: 102 people cast their votes to support their favorite pieces!

This outpouring of creativity and participation highlights the power of art to bring awareness and inspire action. A huge congratulations to our contest winners:

  • 1st Place: Lindy Blosser – Rapture, Pastel
  • 2nd Place: Elizabeth Amaya – Hope in Bloom, Watercolor

Artist Statement:

After my Appendix Cancer diagnosis in August 2022, I researched anything I could find about this rare cancer. While processing my diagnosis and researching, I noticed that there were very few amber ribbons. I was inspired to turn to my watercolors and design my own. I love gardens and flowers so it was only “natural” to create a floral amber ribbon. This contest motivated me to add the finishing touches to my piece – two years later.  Thank you! Art is very healing.

  • 3rd Place: Jessica Evans – Stronger Than It All, Mixed Media

Artist Statement:

I was a mother of three at the time of diagnosis, an 11-year-old, a one-year-old, and a five-month-old. The night, my appendix ruptured I had no idea what it was. I just knew that I started to feel dizzy and tingly, and I started to feel the most excruciating pain I had ever felt. After my emergency appendectomy, I received a hemi colon ectomy, and my fallopian tubes were removed along with multiple surgeries, hospital stays, 689 hours of chemotherapy,1 ICU stay, strokes, and seizures. Even with all that, even with everything that each person diagnosed with appendix cancer goes through, we are stronger than it all. We are stronger than it all. I never asked to be strong. I was never given the choice, but I am stronger. We are stronger and with research, we can find a cure.

Thank you to all the artists and voters who made this contest a success!
