Major Update to ACPMP’s Clinical Trials Database for Appendix Cancer Patients

Explore Our Refreshed and Expanded Clinical Trials Database

ACPMP is excited to announce a significant update to our Clinical Trials Database – an important resource for physicians and their patients seeking clinical trials for appendix cancer. This update is part of our larger effort to provide the appendix cancer community with the most current and comprehensive information available.
Here are some key takeaways:

Expanded Database: We’ve added approximately 150 additional clinical trials (US and outside of US) that patients interested in finding a clinical trial may wish to explore. As many aspects of clinical trials, including protocol and eligibility criteria, can be complex, we highly recommend that patients discuss those of your interest with their medical team to determine if they are a good fit. This clinical trial database is intended to be a helpful resource to inform those discussions.

Organization of Database: We’ve grouped the clinical trials into three major categories: (1) appendix-cancer specific; (2) targeted therapy trials focused on specific tumor mutations or other characteristics; (3) solid tumor trials more generally (appendix cancer is a solid tumor; the term references non-blood cancers). We’ve further grouped these trials into their various stages of research; that is, Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3, in the U.S. and outside of the U.S.. A basic description of these phases of trials can be found in the preface to the clinical trial database.

Important Caveat: Appendiceal tumors may not necessarily be eligible for all of the clinical trials listed notwithstanding our best effort to clarify with the applicable points of contact. For example, some of the targeted therapy trials list colorectal cancer as one of the tumor types eligible to enroll. Some trials deem appendiceal tumors as eligible under that category; others do not. We have sought that clarification wherever feasible. Where we have received an affirmative response, we have so indicated. We will continue to seek confirmation from others and will update as responses are received. Many of these trials require at least one measurable lesion using specific criteria that can be challenging for mucinous tumors to meet. However, for purposes of this update, we have erred on the side of being over -rather than under-inclusive given that enrollment in any clinical trial always requires the patient/patient’s physician to follow-up with the trial’s point of contact.

Comprehensive and Up-to-Date: Whenever feasible, we plan to update the database, providing the most current status and all other relevant information. Please note, however, enrollment status and/or other information about a listed trial, in addition to new trials coming on line, may change between our last update and the time of our next update.
