PMPRF was pleased to share the news that Sean Hepburn Ferrer was once again the Ambassador for Rare Disease Day 2015!  Sean, the son of Audrey Hepburn who suffered from PMP, knows personally about the struggle rare disease patients and families encounter in their quest to find care and we were delighted that he agreed to fulfill this role for a second year.

Attendees at this second annual event learned about pseudomyxoma peritonei and non-carcinoid appendiceal tumors and heard from a variety of experts about the prevalence, the signs and symptoms, treatment options, and latest research. Topics presented included surgical and medical oncology perspectives, imaging for appendiceal cancer, insurance coverage, nutrition, exercise and wellness, and patient and family perspectives.

Congrats to Tim Shaughnessy for completing the CareFirst Half-Marathon in 2 hours, 4 minutes, and 18 seconds, and surpassing his fundraising goal for the PMP Research Foundation. Way to go Tim!
